I look at the title, premise, overall structure first. Then I see how it makes me feel. After that, I might comment on little errors which are easily fixed. |
I am not an expert reviewer, but I have some small amount of talent in the field of writing. I will not edit your work, but typos, grammar mistakes, etc. will be pointed out if I see them. I will give you my impression of your work, encourage you, and do my best to review the work. |
When I review something, I look for grammar and it's content. I can say what you miss or what you need. |
I like a review that makes me edit, even if it bothers me or offends me. So I look at your piece with, "What would I change to make this better and why?" And I write down most of what I think... the limit being how much you paid, more than how much you can handle!
And of course there's no guarantee that my advice won't make it worse. Well, except the long list of bestseller credits-- oh, I haven't published them yet.
But feel free to request a refund if I really like your piece. It's happened, sometimes I'm in too good of a mood and I think your work is perfect. If it was, you'd be submitting it for a royalty advance... praise is nice but it's like Chinese food, you need more in an hour. Whereas critique sticks to your ribs... |
I used a template for all of my reviews. I will comment on plot, characters, scene/setting, grammar, and anything else that comes to mind. |
As a reviewer of your work, I will first look for identification in what you are presenting. When a reader can truly identify with the writer, emotion sets in and the story becomes a part of the reader as well as the writer. |
My reviewing style varies. I may do a little edit if possible or pinpoint what I think is incorrect. My review is merely base on what I feel about your piece. If I enjoy it, I say it. If not, I tell you why I'm not.
I often do reviews on all Poetry Items- regardless of the genres, styles and the way it was written. However if you like, you can request a short story, chapter not the entire book or novel, articles and essays, etc.

I tend to try and be fairly succinct, I have a deep love for verbose and interesting language, taking large preference to poetry.
If you want some critique or suggestion on such, I'd be happy to help! |
I bring kindness followed up with brutally honest reviews of everything. I won't sugarcoat your stuff, but I will give credit when credit is due. |
My style is varied for the most part meaning that sometimes I feel it necessary to comment on grammar and other times the flow of the story as an example. I will always try to be sensitive of your feelings for I know that writing is hard and personnel but even though this is true I still want to be as helpful as I can. |
Overall impression, likes, suggestions, positive closing. I am honored to do reviews upon request, usually on the first day

Mostly just bitchin'. If it's great writing I switch over to nit-picking but usually I'll find something to like.
Please don't ask me to review poetry unless you're either James Fenton, Seamus Heaney or thick skinned as an elephant... I absolutely hate bad poetry. I'm the terror of the dactyls, I swat them with my hat. I'll have no truck with trochees, coz life's too short for that. Seriously I'm not qualified. I mean a metre is made up of feet? Like what? |
I like to give fair and honest reviews. I will always be polite and will give some tips if needed. Improper grammar in a story is something that bothers me quite a bit and, please, if you absolutely need to swear in your story try to keep it at a minimum and make it part of a character and not a narrative. |

I don't like using a template. I don't like correcting spelling. I don't like correcting grammar. I don't want to be your editor. I enjoy discussing what I have read. I am very happy to tell people what I have liked and what I have disliked. There is not a lot that I dislike. |
I'm honest when I review thing I'll say what's on my mind but at the same time I try to stay positive and will always tell you what you did right but this means in no way am I a professional reviewer so take my reviews with a grin of salt please |
Depends. Sometimes, in depth, and sometimes, "just the feel of the item." |

Casual for the most part. I will point out errors I see and offer suggested corrections. I like to focus on the content and formatting of the item. I love providing helpful comments and feedback that may improve the item if acted on. |
I like to encourage writers, while giving accurate, insightful, truthful feedback.
Reviews for novel length items will be an overview and general comment. I don't review line by line or focus on grammar, spelling or punctuation -except perhaps if I see something affecting the storyline, or if I have suggestions relating to improving relevant areas of the work. |

I am often very critical in the mechanics of writing as too many errors can impact really badly on the reader and their desire to keep reading. I also concentrate on the storyline pace and character development. Any reviews provided by me are honest and encouraging but are not designed to be wishy washy with kindness - my aim is to help not destroy!!! |
